Election 2.016: Technology and Civic Engagement

Just up the street from Silicon Beach, the Davenport Institute and the Pepperdine School of Public Policy will be co-hosting a conference on how technological innovation is changing the way voters engage in the democratic process. We will explore issues like how voters find information in the information age, how social networking is changing the conversation, and how civic tech is breaking down barriers to entry.

Though the focus of the conference is applicable beyond Los Angeles, many of our panelists are local innovators who are at the heart of a civic tech revolution starting here in the LA area, including Nate Kaplan of See Political, James Hall of Open Campaign, and LA County Registrar Recorder Dean Logan. It will also feature Nation Builder's Jim Cupples talking about how runforoffice.org can help residents get involved by running for open offices in their own community.
