MWD
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a regional wholesaler that delivers water to 26 member public agencies – 14 cities, 11 municipal water districts, one county water authority – which in turn provides water to more than 19 million people in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. Metropolitan contracts for as much as $500 million annually in construction, goods and services.

LAWA
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is the City of Los Angeles department that owns and operates a system of three airports: Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (VNY). LAWA procures over $500 million in goods, services and materials to support passenger and cargo services annually.

DGS
The Department of General Services (DGS) serves as business manager for the state of California. General Services helps to better serve the public by providing a variety of services to state agencies through procurement and acquisition solutions. The state of California purchases a wide variety of goods and services ranging from pencils to temporary labor with annual purchases totalling almost $10 billion.

Metro
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is unique among the nation’s transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country’s largest, most populous counties. Metro invests in working with small businesses, knowing from experience that the ingenuity, risk-taking and skills of small businesses are propelling the region’s economic development. Metro needs small businesses to help build, operate and maintain our fast-growing transportation system.

WBENC
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country.

SCMBDC
Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) is the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organization in the region, representing the interests of more than 600,000 Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), serving nearly 1,700 SCMSDC-Certified MBEs and 300 corporate members throughout a 13-county service area (Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, Ventura).

Moderator: Schenae Rourk, CEO, Redwood Resources
Schenae Rourk is managing partner of Redwood Resources that works primarily with firms to provide outreach, strategic marketing, and develops messaging through programs like youth engagement, mentor protege and stakeholder engagement. She also helps small and diverse businesses with capacity building, strategic alliances and project management as well as business development including leveraging through certifications.
